SHEET METAL DESIGNED FOR THE CARIBBEAN CLIMATES

Hydraulic Shear

All cold-formed structural components thinner than 3mm (1/8”) such as purlins, girts and deader rails are produced from high tensile, hot dipped G90 or better galvanised steel. SSL slits master coil and rollforms these components in sizes from 100mm to 400mm deep in 2’ and ‘C’shapes. SSL rollforms Permaclad and Colourclad roof and side cladding in five profiles, including two standing seam profiles from master coils of high tensile steel.

The coils used to rollform Permaclad are coated with a minimum of 175 grams of Aluminium and Zinc per sq meter.

Those used to roilform Colourclad are the same, but in addition to the zinc and aluminium coating, they have 5 microns of epoxy primer and 25 microns of PVF2 or Silicone Polyester paint on both the top and the bottom to prevent rusting from underneath where the sheets never get washed by rain. For extreme conditions, SSL also produces roofing and siding in grade 316L stainless steel.

All roofing and siding products are fixed with self drilling screws that carry 25mm diameter metal washers with bonded neoprene seals, and all side laps are sealed with mastic and stitch screwed to ensure total weather protection in all conditions. The screws used are specified to match the dimatic conditions that the roofing will be exposed to, and vary from zinc plated steel to Zincalume headed to stainless steel.

The standing seam profiles have no end laps and no fasteners through the sheets, so there is no chance of fasteners corroding and causing leaks.
